Life ....Are you my friend ?

Life goes like a flash .If someone asks me - if you get a chance to live it again , What will you expect ? My answer will be - I would want it as it was .Same family , same friends , same town , same school and college , same job ...only change I will make is  - I will keep my eyes little more open .

May be that is a reason , I may not say ..Life is my friend .It is still running like to parallel tracks . I am pretending to have uniformity but , it is not . At every point , I am expecting some thing else . In the plate , I get something different .

I read a lot of books but could never define Satisfaction . Are we giving justice to every role , which we are performing ...honest answer is No . Have we utilized our capabilities at the fullest ..answer is No . Have we showed courage to jump into unknown .Answer is same ..No .

Just to set the right context ..50 years are passed , next few will pass to enlarge them . Future puts the breaks and present demands to see the future .This is the vicious circle .

Settlement -This word is another blunder . Responsibilities    is the next illusion .This is non stop travel . We pretend to follow some path but pathless life is the full life . Or again , is this an illusion ?

Nothing is finally depend on us and driven by us .Corona taught us again . It brought all three generations in the one plain .

We are traveling in a train by keeping our luggage on our own head , even if the train is empty .Do you know ..what luggage is this . This is a bundle of Joy and sorrow .We think we are the carrier of it but how fool we are ! Somebody is else is carrying three of us ...

Gadi bula rahi hai !!

Magic of thinking Big !!

We all know , Vinoba Bhave .He is well known as a national teacher of India and also as a spiritual successor of Gandhiji .He was awarded the highest civil award -Bharat Ratna , posthumously in 1983.

One small incidence  and he taught us the magic of thinking Big .

He was conducting a small meeting in village .One lady came to him and said , " I want to send my young kid for further education somewhere in a big town .At the moment , in this village ,there is no provision of education after std V .I am worried about his future ." .

Vinoba asked her , " Look . Don't have you any feeling about the other kids of your village .Start thinking , what can be done for all kids incl yours .Think about arranging teacher for all village students . Do not consider this problem ,only as yours . It is connected to society .Take it up to that level and you will find the way " .A months later , a school was started in the village .

This is a small example of thinking Big . Do not be individualist in your thinking and approach .Be a social in real sense and be a perfect team player .When you think Big , you are not helping others .You are adding the value to your self .If we see all great personalities , one thing is common ..Big Dream for welfare of others , which finally make the people happy and people take these genius to a new  height !!

Think Big !!

Finally what is the Advantage in Advantage .

This is an amazing thought provoking short story , teaches us to leave selfishness .
There was a farmer  , named Raghu .He had a sixth sense and  used to get future tips one month early .He had a dynamic horse .Raghu came to know that , horse will die after one month .Immediately he sold the horse without even obligating his services .He also had a cow . He survived for many years because of her services .She got very sick and Raghu came to know , she only has few days of her life . Bluntly , he sold that cow also .

Years later , he intuitively came to know that he is going to die after one month in an accident . Now what will he do ......Story ends here .

We have thousands of Such Raghu , running everyday !!

Indian culture is based on great philosophy called  - Vedanta . This is not a platform to elaborate it . In a simple way , we should always remember that God is within ourselves as well as in every other person , we come across .There is no need to do something great .What is expected .. if you are a teacher ...take care of students , if you are doctor ...take care of patients , if you are manager ...take care of your employees .The list is endless .

Give to the World , the  Best you have and The Best will come back to You !!

Diamonds of Indian Army

Diamonds of Indian Army

Out of all wars, which India fought since independence, strategically the most difficult situation was 1999 Kargil War. All crucial peaks like Tiger Hill, Tololing, and point 4875 were not only on line of control but also on high altitude from Indian side .Everywhere, Indian Army had to reclaim the peaks to dislodge the intruders.Though, there are no words to explain the bravery of these four great Indian Soldiers ,this is the small attempt to make today's generation , remember about them .21 years are passed now .

Captain Vikram Batra, (13 JAK RIF) -

Do you recollect ….Captain Vikram Batra of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Rifle, showcasing on national television the enemy's machine guns he had captured in his first gallant exploits in the Kargil war.His dialogue had become national slogan during those days. "Yeh dil mange more" (My heart asks for more). He died fighting Pakistani forces at the age of 24. Captain Vikram's most difficult mission was the capture of crucial peak - Point 4875. He had led his team despite high fever and got fatally injured trying to save another officer. He was given the highest wartime gallantry award Param Vir Chakra. He came to be fondly called as Tiger of Drass , Lion of Kargil .Amazed with his spirit , even Pakistani called him , SherShah .

Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav (18 Grenadiers) -

Then 19-years-old, Yogendra Singh Yadav (now Subedar Major) was the youngest person to ever be awarded the Param Vir Chakra. He was the sole survivor of an attack on Tiger Hill in which he took 15 bullets. He was a part of the Ghatak platoon that recaptured three strategic bunkers on Tiger Hill. Yadav led the assault but halfway through enemy lines opened fires, killing his colleagues. Yadav, was himself hit by several bullets which rendered his left arm immobile.Determined to achieve his objective, Yadav strapped his arm in a belt, wrapped a bandana around his leg and continued to fight the enemy. He killed four enemy soldiers in close combat and silenced the automatic fire.

Major Rajesh Adhikari (18 Grenadiers)
On May 14, 1999, Major Rajesh Adhikari was leading the central arm of three 10-man teams trying to capture a bunker at 16,000 ft at the Tololing feature.
He displayed exemplary valour in recapturing Tololing, where he engaged in direct combat with the Pakistani soldiers guarding the bunkers.Major Adhikari suffered serious bullet injuries to which he succumbed beyond enemy lines on May 15. He was the second army officer to be martyred in Kargil war.His body was recovered 13 days later. In his pocket was an unread letter from his wife.He was posthumously awarded Mahavir Chakra for his bravery.

Naik Digendra Kumar (2 RR)

Naik Digendra Kumar is best known for his plan to recapture Tololing that is located an altitude of 15,000 feet. His plan had surprised General VP Malik, the then army chief, who held a Sainik Darbar in Drass on June 2, 1999 after three failed attempts to get back Tololing. His idea of following the same route as the enemy sounded too risky to the army chief. But Naik Digendra Kumar insisted and set off on the mission. The team of 10 commandos came under heavy firing from 250 Pakistani soldiers. Nine commandos died. But before that they handed over their guns and grenades to Naik Digendra Kumar, who lodged them in all 11 bunkers of the enemy. He killed Major Anwar Khan of Pakistan Army in hand-to-hand combat slitting enemy's throat with his dagger. He planted Indian flag on the hilltop before falling unconscious. He was honored with Mahavir Chakra .

600 AD to 1600 AD ...Worst Patch for India

Dear Readers ,

Evolution of man happened four lac years ago . For tiger , it is four crore years .Still Tiger is , where he was and a man reached where he is ....

How it happened ? It all started with curiosity especially about Nature and then it followed through Observation , Logic , Conclusion , Experience and then Experiment . We called it Scientific Attitude . It requires courage to adopt scientific attitude in our life . We should be independent thinkers and absolutely  fearless to adopt this scientific attitude .As an Indian society , we pretend to have a scientific attitude but at a personal level , we are still struggling to make a differentiation between Faith and Blind Faith .

Millions of people from last many thousand years literally struggled to improve mankind .They sacrificed their lives for only one truth and that was Scientific Attitude . Take an example of Galileo and Socrates .They prefer poison to blind faith . In India , there were thousands of such followers .Right from Varah Mihir , Aryabhatta , Sushrut all dedicated  their lives for betterment of people by showing the truth and connecting Science and Religion .Starting from Raja Ram Mohan Roy , Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Raghunath Karve ...all were trying for social reforms .What kind of social reforms were these !They were just following a Truth and Science . Dr Raghunath Karve was literally beaten by educated people when he devised family planning reforms .

In India , our real black years are 600 AD to 1600 AD . We completely lost the track and started relying on word - Destiny .We ruined ourselves in these 1000 years . We refused to think , to act , to challenge and dug a grave for our own .History confirms that we had hundreds of scientists before 600 AD .Unfortunately , in these 1000 years , the number came to Zero .No wonder , Mughal , Dutch , French , Portuguese and finally British did the remaining work to make us shattered .We lost process of thinking , method of action , search of truth , way of life and spirit of living ....

The root cause was we moved from scientific temperament and adopted a way of unhealthy traditions , systems and processes . If we observe all wrong practices started in this arena incl Sati , Black magic , superstitions  , child marriages and what not .We never understood the real meaning of Religion and Science .We were completely divided . Culturally , socially , nationally . In pieces , there were glimpses of hopes , but alas ! It was just an illusion . Most of our wealth was looted , most of our discoveries were hijacked .India was on a verge of devastation . A real black period for Nation !!

Balanced scorecard

Every student , irrespective of any discipline can measure his progress using variety of tools available in management science .There are some famous analysis like SWOT  analysis or Johari Window .However , I find one tool very precise and measurable . In fact  ,the tool is expected to be used by Industries for their strategic management practices . We can customize the same for students community .

Let us the see the original structure .

The Balanced Scorecard, referred to as the BSC, is a framework to implement and manage strategy.  It links a vision to strategic objectives, measures, targets, and initiatives. It balances financial measures with performance measures and objectives related to all other parts of the organization. It is a business performance management tool. It is the methodology that balances the organization and covers four perspectives , Financial, Customer, Business Process and Organizational Capacity.

Excluding , financial aspects ,students can make a chart , by dividing each square into two , namely Goals and Measures .

1. What must we Excel at .
2. What are the emerging opportunities and challenges
3. How do our recruiters see at us .

Students can keep a diary and keep noting few points like ...

1. What are my weak areas , which need immediate attention .
2. What measures I am taking to improve .
3. What are expectations of skill sets from my recruiters .
4. What  are the areas of improvement .

Apart from students , the department or organization as well , can use this technique effectively .

Chess ..Is this a Sports or not or What ?

All chess players are genius or All genius play Chess .....?

Chess has its origins in Chaturanga in India before sixth century .From India , chess moved to Persia , Arab world and then to Europe .A good chess playing capability reflects sharp intelligence , strategical and tactical elements , memory and concentration skills  with very high emotional stability .

Still one question remains .Chess is the sports or game or a hobby or a Science or an Art . To be surprise , International Olympic Committee had rejected petition from Chess to become Olympic sports on the ground that ' Mind Spots '  do not require physical prowess in the act of performing the discipline .

Chess is , may be , the only sports in which players experience intense psychological and physiological exertion .It generates a huge stress , which includes huge nervous tension . We can not share the blame of loss .There are no referees to blame .There is no luck factor .If you loose , the only reason  - other player beat you .

Many psychologists have recommended schools and colleges to induce this game in the course structure .During many technical interviews , candidate is highly regarded , if he / she has some good achievements in the chess . It is considered to be one of the best exercises to brain and mind , especially both sides of brain . It is a tremendous booster to problem solving ability , with substantial rise in IQ . Chess teaches the fine art of remembrance , learning and handling with success as well as failures .

Viswanathan Anand has said ." We work towards the goal without obsessing , how far we are from it or how hopelessly we are missing the mark each time .Once we shut out the clamour of result and simply persevere , success will be ours . Chess taught me this . We do not learn only chess moves , we learn to deal with life situations ."

Let us spread chess , let us build intelligent India ..!!

Anand ...All Time Great Hindi Movie .

Life should be big and not long .....

During this corona epidemic , mankind has relearned a very big lesson . Your body is your disease .Today we say Corona is the threat .Tomorrow we do not know which source will exist .What remains then in a life is to live at fullest , always be cheerful and spread the joy .There are some movies , which are like light houses for us .They go beyond the word  - Entertainment and do the enlightenment .That is the reason , there is a list published  of 100 movies of the world , we should see before we die .In my opinion , Anand can be rated as one of the greatest movies .

Almost everybody has seen this movie multiple times .There is no wonder when writer like Gulzar , director like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and actors like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan come together , such kind of high class art is bound to generate .

Anand has a cheerful nature and despite knowing the truth that he is not going to survive for more than six months, he maintains a joyful and outbound behavior and always tries to make everyone happy around him. After his death ,  everyone remembers him as a vibrant and lively person . Doctor Bhaskar , writes at the end  " Anand is not dead , such people never die " . What a great philosophy was put up in this two hours movie .Anand used to tell everybody ," Life should be full of reasonable sense ,not barely a lengthy affair ."

'Anand' continues to inspire us because of its deeply spiritual message of humanism .It tells us , how lucky we are and thriving . The characters of this film become a part of us and start talking to us .The more we give of ourselves, the more we receive and we do need to nurture happiness for the sake of our souls as well as our future generations.

A fabulous art , a great screenplay , lovely music , solid content and superb direction and extra ordinary performances !!

The feeling of Power ...A Greatest Science fiction .

There was US science fiction legend - Issac Asimov . He had written a wonderful story in 1958 .

Myron Aub was a technician with clever brain . He discovers that he is capable of doing very complex mathematical operations within few minutes , by using some tactics .The methods he used was so fantastic that whole matter went to Defense head and space research head . This invention was so amazing that everybody was thrilled .Finally President got involved in that .

All team sat together and started discussing the future .They thought of combining mechanics of computation with human thought and generating human intelligent computers . Human mind , now can duplicate any process .Team planned to develop such millions -Myron Aub from taking all tactics from Myron himself . Now Myron Aub started sensing that the things are going towards horrible objectives . The president was addressing a secret group , in which Aub was also present .

The President and The General started ...  We will Put the power of the administration behind the establishment of a secret project on human computation. Our goal is a simple one, gentlemen - the replacement of the computer. A ship that can navigate space without a computer on board can be constructed in one fifth the time and at one tenth the expense of a computer-laden ship. It is also possible to build a missile with a man or two within, controlling flight by graphitics, would be lighter, more mobile, more intelligent...

Myron Aub realized the tragic end of his invention .He was stumbling under pressure and finally he listened the cruel planning behind the whole objective .The President and Defense head announced following  -

"  Gentlemen, the exigencies of war compel us to remember one thing. A man is much more dispensable than a computer. Manned missiles could be launched in numbers and under circumstances that no good general would care to undertake as far as computer-directed missiles are concerned . ."

Myron did not wait there and rushed to his room and decided to put his life to an End .In the suicide note , he writes ...

' I thought that others were wiser than I, that graphitics might be put to practical use as a benefit to mankind, to aid in the production of really practical mass-transference devices perhaps. But now I see it is to be used only for death and destruction. I cannot face the responsibility ."

Surya Namaskar ....The King of Exercises .

Dear Friends ,

Why do we exercise ? There are four objectives .

A. To make our heart  and it's pumping mechanism strong ( jogging , running , brisk walking ) = Stamina .

B. To make our body flexible ( yoga , stretching exercises ) = Flexibility.

C . To make our body organs strong and in shape ( dips , pull ups and other gym types )= Power.

D . To make our breathing proper which in turns make our lungs strong ( Pranayam ) = Respiration .

For normal person , 12 Surya Namskar in max 15 minutes will give you all above advantages , 12 S = A+B+C+D .

I was not at all interested in any of the physical exercise in the childhood and also not a very healthy student .However , I was very open to all outdoor games incl cricket . My uncle was very active RSS activist and very passionate about yoga . He literally forced me to learn this exercise .Today , I am extremely grateful to him of this amazing teachings .It is a graceful link of 12 yoga asanas , which includes systematic breathing .With all my experience ,I can claim that -

* Surya Namaskar is the greatest Indian exercise .

*This is the most impactful cardiovascular exercise which has amazing effects on body and mind .

* This is the rare exercise which stimulates our nervous system .

* You can do it in any season and requires the space of max 6.5fts .

* This is the fantastic combination of isometric and isotonic exercises .

*  If you do it with proper Omkar and one name of Sun , it tones your voice .

There are thousands of people in the world who do this sun salutation till the age of 80 and keep themselves fit . It is not religious devotion .All religions have accepted and included sun salutation in the routine .

cartel strategy - Controversial Business Stategy .

This is a very interesting but controversial business strategy .

Assume , there are two very famous brands of Soft drinks .The have their own strengths and weaknesses .One fine morning , CEO of X company walks down to his counterpart in Y company and on table , he proposes , Look , let us divide ourselves into two regions of 15 states each .We will not interfere into each other's demographics .You sell in your region and let me enjoy my region . Both agree and enjoy big profits .Now , who is the loser ..Customers and Retailers .Both the companies have made us fool .This in turn affects widely on economy .

Cartel or cartelization can be defined as settlement of companies to fix prices, manipulate bids as to share customers.Cartel is an association of producers who attempt to control production, sale and prices of the product to obtain a monopoly in any particular industry . It results into an unfair trade practice which is not in the public interest.

There was interesting cartel happened few years back in India . It was in the domain of Zinc dry cell batteries .Three very top industries were involved in the cartel .They had made unhealthy alliance and surprisingly one of them , for some reasons broke and opened this cartel to the court and media . In crime diary of India , a lot has been discussed about how Dawood , which was in Dubai during those days ,  used to give some tips about his rivals in Mumbai to some specific police officers . This is also one type of cartel . In education sector especially in coaching classes , we see these alliances . Two top teachers from Maths and Science come together and in spite of inconvenience in location , timings and personal choice , they force students community to come to their union center . We have also witnessed , such cartels in transport sectors .Sad part of the story is those persons or organizations who refuse to join hands , are always completely thrown away . Recently , looking at business , even ICC bound to conduct IPL sooner or later but before T 20 world cup .

In Life , when  , people loose focus on honesty , national interest  and by large on principles , we will be witnessing more such Cartels .

Mahi way ...... MS Dhoni !!

Meeting of selection committee was going on in 2007 after a very poor and early exist of India from 50 over world cup of 2007 .Discussions were very hot about the new name of the Captain to be appointed .Finally , it was decided to make a phone call to The God of Cricket - Sachin Tendulkar and take his opinion .Chairman requested Sachin to share his opinion and within a minute , Sachin suggested a surprise name - Wicket keeper -Batsman , Mahendra Singh Dhoni . Rest is the history ...!!We all know the highest glory ,Indian Cricket achieved under Dhoni's captaincy .When recently Tendulkar was asked about his choice , the answer received was very different .. I noticed amazing thinking style and patterns in Dhoni .I could see a great leader in him .

Very few genius persons in India are selfless .Dhoni is one of them .If you ask any new comer in Indian team or CSK team , they will tell you, Dhoni used to sit with them , play video games , will go to their rooms , chat on various subjects apart from cricket . Dhoni was a strong believer in human relations .His stand was - It I want to take the best from these players , I need to know them , first as a person and from their frame of reference , I will plan the strategy . This unique quality came to rescue in 2007 T 20 world cup final , when Dhoni gave the final over to a very new bowler , Joginder Sharma , when quota of other prime bowlers was not finished . Sunil Gavaskar proudly mentioned that , Dhoni is one of the rarest superstars , who still prefers to travel in Economy class and not in business class .He keep talking to people , know their opinions and always searching for 360 degree view .

Dhoni has a deepest sense of cricket . A lot has been written about his gut feeling and intuition . He mentions , You can not have intuition without knowledge or understanding of the game . He likes to be in present , he only thinks about that moment and tries to plan per moment . Think about the tense situation in 2011 world cup , when Sachin , Sehwag and Kohli was out .Yuvraj was expected to step down . Suddenly he was stopped and Dhoni took a stance and changed the dimensions of the game .What he must have thought  in dressing room .It was incidence based and factual decision .Yuvraj was lefty and it was difficult to face the off spin of Murlidharan . Such decision requires courage and not to conflict with present and past forms of the two , unnecessary comparisons or too much thinking about the result .

Dhoni's philosophy is breaking the dream or objective into sub tasks and consider those fully at a time .He may be one of best thinkers in theentire sports world .Talking about Highs and Lows in the journey ,Dhoni states that there are no such Highs and Lows . In his opinion , you learn the things ( people call it -Lows ) or you celebrate the learnings ( Highs ) .

Transparency and not Security is another Dhoni mantra . He doesn't believe in groups-ism , he doesn't need to tell when to stop at what instant . When the whole team lifted the trophy three times under his captaincy , 2007 -T 20 championship , 2011 - ICC World Cup and 2013 - Champions trophy , have you noticed where Dhoni stood up ..every time in the corner !! Every time he ensured the trophy in the hands of most junior player .

These behavioral smashes are strongly based on Dhoni's capability and excellence . He batted most of the times on no 5 , 6 and 7 and still scored 10000 runs with 50 + average , with no injuries and breaks .He changed the dimensions and definitions of Wicket keeper Batsman in the cricketing world .His reflexes in wicket keeping are unbelievable . Still you will not find Mahi in any of the reality shows .He is 100% family man and possesses very high regards to Defense forces .

Dhoni was talking to a school girl about her exam anxiety .He told her , look , there is no point in becoming panic when the question paper is in your hand .Get panic in preparations at proper time .Dhoni is a diamond in Indian crown, not only because of cricket but for his revolutionary thinking , motivating and achieving patterns !!

We proudly say ..It is Mahi Way ....!!

The T C S story and beyond ....Amazing Journey .

Dear Friends ,

It was an absolute pleasure to read this book by S Ramadorai ..Ex CEO of Tata Consultancy Services . This is a well narrated story of an organization , like a small bird transforming into an Eagle -Start up to A biggest Indian MNC in IT services and consulting . The book is not only inspiring but covers an entire canvas of IT transformation in India from 1965 till date . This journey of 55 years is highly respectful and a matter of pride for very Indian citizen.  It is not intended to write a summary of this book , but a honest effort, the way we perceive this glorious story !!

Mr Ramadorai was the ward of teacher and hence bought up with the great value systems . During those days , a high class Masters from US was considered to be an extraordinary achievement , moreover , he had started his career as well in US .Leaving everything behind and joining TCS in 1972 on low perks was  just an outstanding courage .

Mr Ramadorai elaborates , a great contribution of Mr F C Kohli , the first CEO of TCS and popularly called as " Father of Indian IT ".He has portrayed  Mr Kohli so beautifully , that we completely understand the mighty contribution , he has given .In fact , earlier Mr Kohli was hesitant to leave Tata Power / Electric and join TCS .But once joined , he made revolution .Any new job aspirant in IT should refer this book time to time .Mr Kohli used to carry technical manuals at home everyday and leading from the front . Earlier TCS was a very small data processing unit and in those days even other Tata group companies were  reluctant to give the work to TCS . The phase was very tough .The player like IBM had a complete monopoly .Mr Kohli was probably the first person in India to start IT campus recruitment .When there was no word -IT , in even IITs  , he made tie ups with all IITs , to recruit the fresh talent from Electronics and Electrical branches .Looking at situations , TCS also stepped into management consulting with govt organizations .Ramadorai developed himself under this hard taskmaster .Mr Kohli taught him , most imp business aspect of under promising and over delivering to clients .To grow from inside , both started many intra TCS IT challenges . TCS switched gears from programming to hardware installations to support and maintenance and signed first off share contract .

Mr Ramadorai's vision was very clear .TCS can and should make a difference to India .From this inspiration , TCS brought all global essence to domestic markets .TCS slowly spread the wings in Financial sectors as well . He trained future managers with exemplary management skills , especially linking case studies and deriving principles through it . Mr Rama was also not happy with the single unit of Research and development at TRDDC and decentralized these activities .Going ahead , under his leadership , TCS went Public and also became , India's first billion dollar IT company .Till 2003 ,90 % of TCS revenue was derived from IT solutions and services .Mr Ramadorai took the initiative and after rigorous brain storming , TCS came up with five new business clusters like global consulting , Engineering and Industrial services , Asset based offerings , Infra services and IT enabled services .

Mr Ramadorai was the strong believer and follower of Tata legacy .He adhered with Tata values of Integrity , Excellence , Understanding , Unity and Responsibility . There was an incidence when one Tata group company outsource his IT work to IBM .Even Mr Ratan Tata was willing to look into the matter ..why not TCS .But Mr Ramadorai and team remained firm on ethics and took it gracefully .His vision was amazing strong to stand TCS in digital era .

As an academician , I see his thoughts on Education as a guiding lines for future .Only 5 % of Indian youth in the age group of 19 to 24 , is estimated to have formal training .Only 10 % children will pass schools and go beyond .Industry , being consumer of Education and training , should come ahead .Future of learning is informal and mobile .TCS has given the highest priority to use technology for addressing the issues of Education at every level .

Excellent book in recent times !! Mr Ramadorai leaves many things behind for his successor to build upon .The greatest part of the story is Mr N Chandrasekaran firmly took the legacy ahead .

FC Kohli , S Ramadorai and N Chandrasekaran ... Three Aces of TCS

Struggle to reach Exam Hall in Mumbai ... Quite Exciting !!

This is my exciting experience , not very great but thought to share with you all just to imbibe the importance of awareness and how people help you .

Year was 2012 . To have value addition in my profile of training and placement  I decided to undergo a certificate course in personal counselling at Mumbai , in the organization -Institute of Human Technology , Byculla . We had a very passionate mentor , Dr Minnu Bhonsle .( Well acclaimed name in this field and a very famous psychological counsellor ) .

Now the problem was , the course structure was three evenings in a week , around 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm and hence I took a permission from my institutes to leave at 2.00 pm , park my vehicle near high way , getting down in the bus around 3.00 pm , reaching there by 6.30 pm and then at night by taking bus at 10.00 pm from Dadar and coming to Pune at 1.00 / 1.30 am in the night . Though the schedule was very hectic , I was thoroughly enjoying the course only because of the excellent and valuable learning at IHT .

Course got over in September and the final written exam was scheduled in the same time slot .It was a rainy season . I prepared honestly for the exams and as usual , left Pune by bus around 2.30 pm .Till Lonavala , the situation was okay and after Khopoli , rain started very heavily and finally around 5.00 pm , somehow we reached Panvel . It was a huge traffic jam .Driver was helpless and gave up ..saying ..this is the end . Sadly , a news come tprayinghat all transport is on hold till tonight . I was completely nervous , as it was clear indications of missing the exam paper .I was standing on Panvel bus stand , thinking what to do . It was looking impossible to reach Byculla near CST by 7.00 pm .Suddenly , I struck with one line which my friend , a very proficient trainer , Mr Manohar Nair from Pune mentioned  , a month earlier . I was talking to him about this course .He had told me ...In Mumbai , when everything gets standstill .. many times harbor line of Railway keeps operating . It quickly reminds me that Panvel is the last station on harbor line and I may get a local to CST .I rushed there by taking auto rickshaw .I was extremely lucky that the local whch was leaving to CST , was the last local of that day , because of heavy rains .I checked the map .Three was one station of harbor line , called Reay Road , which was 2 km away from Byculla .I was praying about the timings . Somehow , I got down at 6.45pm at Reay road , took auto and reached the institute on time !!

Finally , exam went very well , I passed and got the certificate and great leanings from both Dr Bhonsle as well as from life ...connect the dots to fulfill your dream !!

Chanakya's teaching for youngsters .

 Dear Young freshers ,

These are very useful and Pragmatic tips by Arya Chanakya .
( Teacher, philosopher, economist, jurist, advisor of Chadragupta Maurya .His contribution was prominent in the foundation of Maurya Empire ) .

1 . The first and foremost thing about the job , which you have accepted . Accept it wholeheartedly and feel inspired every morning for leaving for the job .If not , something is wrong somewhere and quickly start reflecting on it .

2. In whatever field you are , form a habit of referring to Global picture of that domain in the morning through news channels , newspapers .

3. Plan your day , first in the mind and then in the diary in the first one hour at workplace .

4. Keep a mindset of completing difficult task in the first half .Avoid procrastination .

5 . In the breaks , keep 10 to 15 minutes of quiet / silent time to think about the action plan or strategies .Remember to think ...not to worry .

6. Now a days , most of the tasks or projects are in group .Be a perfect team player and not individualist .During course of time ...your efforts will be rewarded and hence , do not work for rewards .

7. From your team leader , get a clear expectations about your work .Identify the work and do not deviate .

8. After six months , take a review ..whether you are asset or liability for the company .

9 . Your approach in the formal and informal meetings should be different .Be firm of your views but maintain the dignity .

10 .Your workplace is your second home . Do not turn it into a dry place .Be creative , have a fun , create cordial relationships with peers .

11 . Learn fast with open mind . Excellence is only possible with training and practice .

12 . Form a proper habit of documentation at the start of the career .Keep updating your profile .

13 .Be a social person , even if your nature is not .At the end , only Friendship and relationship matters .Be it personal or professional .

14 . Ensure , you travel a lot .See the nation and the world .Make contacts .Get attached with society .It gives a huge boost to your professional career as well .

15 . Appreciate others for small and big achievements .

16. Have minimum three mentors / experts  around you .Be their pupil .

Coversation with Curiosity .

If we see the major conferences , meetings , tech talks , gatherings ...may be professional or social , there is always a time given for Networking or Networking Lunch or Networking Dinner .The purpose of these sessions is very clear ... to spread your product , services , capabilities , initiatives and to grasp others as well . Now hundreds of people interact .How you will create a   differentiator . Take a case  . You are a trainer and your group of trainers have invited a senior VP of Industry for one grand function .Most of your colleagues will interact with him and when he is leaving the hall ...Can you ensure , that he wants to organize a specialized training for his managers on behavioral skills ... Your name will be on his top of Mind ??

Yes .You can ensure this with proper flow of conversation with that VP .

What happens generally when we interact with people , while greeting each other .. see the questions and responses .

* What's New => Not Much .
* How are You => Fine / Good / Going On .
* How are the things => Okay .
* What are you doing => conducting trainings on various topics

This is a sad demise of networking .

Now if the VP asks me ... What are you doing ..the answer could pop up ..I convert people into Human .

Now the contents are same like previous answer , but the method is different .Here I am not only generating curiosity but I am forcing him ask next question and that may be ..How ? or people are not human ? .Now the ball in my court to pitch my USP . Humor is the backbone of long lasting and fruitful conversations .

This is just one incidence .It holds true when you interact with anybody .Try to make every contact genuine and for life time .

Avoid .....I don't Know ...It is Not True .

In the conversations , meetings , talks , interviews , conference calls , in class rooms ...everywhere when people interact ..the most common sentence in reply to specific question or query is - I do not Know . This observation is purely based on research .

Now , let us go into deep .Take two examples of simple high school class of std VII and one campus recruitment process of top MNC .Either a teacher is asking some question or technical interviewer is posing the question . It clearly indicates that the question is asked with some purpose and expectation .Purpose may be to check the knowledge related to some discipline  or domain  and expectation is correct or partially correct or at least honest efforts of giving the answer .When a student or the candidate gives the answer - I do not know , it clearly indicates the End of the road .Communication stops there .When a new neighbor asks you - Do you know one good plumber / electrician in this area .Many times , we end the topic with ..I do not know .Sane case happens when your newly settled friend in the city asks you some address .

In all these cases , are we really honest in going back to our mind  and brain and contemplating about the question asked .The funny fact iterates that in 65 % cases , we know the answer .It is just required to give trigger to ourselves and at the same time to the interviewer or teacher or a friend or a neighbor by replying - Let me think , What I know !! You really need to think and go back to your store house . Do you know this amazing store house ..

Scientists tell us that our mind is consonantly processing data .We continually take 300 gigabytes of information through all our senses but we are only conscious about 42 gigabytes of it .

Just to add two amazing examples ,one Australian astronomer had memorized 1000 star clusters .His study was so perfect that , one night while observing through telescope , he found that the shape and structure of one of the clusters is disturbed . He quickly reported this change to senior astronomers and it leads to discovery of Supernova ( one type of Explosion ).

Can you believe , at what level the brain power can be successfully challenged .US Ex President Thomas Jefferson used to write simultaneously with both the hands .... just hold ...real story is ahead ...he used to write two different matters ... and now finally a punch ...He used to write in two different languages Latin with right hand and Greek with left hand .

Our brain has 100 billion neurons .We have a search engine in our brain .If we properly give command , it can properly bring to your remembrance everything you have ever seen , heard , met .So , always use the principle .. Let me think , what I know ...and then take a minute and think about the connections . You have it !!

Thrilling and Inspiring story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial -Kanyakumari .

Dear Friends ,

Many of us must have visited , Kanyakumari to see the amazing sea memorial .Few of us know that Vivekananda had gone there in 1892 during Bharat Bhraman .Sitting on that rock , He thought about future of India , his mission of life and then rest is the history . Unfortunately , after his demise in 1902 , many years passed .India got independence .Nobody till then thought to build one inspiring monument on that place . Do you know the name of the person who put all his life to build this memorial .This is the story of passion, determination and mission . The name of the great personality - Eknathji Ranade .

In 1962 , Raashtriya Swayansevak Sangha , decided to build this rock memorial and Mr Ranade was the pracharak of RSS . It was decided that the movement behind building this memorial will be completely national and apolitical .At that time , whole nation was excited to see this memorial. However the next story is absolutely thrilling . Kanyakumari district is in Tamilnadu and on border of Kerala ..Unfortunately there were some anti social elements who started opposing this movement .At one night , they put St Xaviers cross of stone , on that rock . Situation became tense .The cross was removed but govt imposed clause 144 . Both Tamilnadu and Kerala govt were worried about votes and pushed pseudo secularism .Hunmayun Kabir was the powerful person at the center and he raised environmental issues , just foe the sake of opposing the movement .Moreover , CM of Tamilnadu ,Mr Bhaktavaslam supported him and took a stand , against this memorial . In this situation , RSS deputed Mr Eknathji as a secretary of Rock memorial committee .

Eknathji decided to take Mr Kabir directly and shattered him .Eknathji went to Kolkata which was Kabir's constituency and he appealed Bengali people to question Mr Kabir for his anti national stand . Kabir withdrew his oppose . Then Mr Eknathji went to New Delhi and approached , Lalbahadur Shastri .He suggested to get the support of maximum MPs .Eknathji took the consent signs of 323 MPs and submitted to PM ,Nehru . Jawaharlal Nehru sensed the national sentiments and convinced Tamilnadu government to issue the permission .

Struggle did not end here .CM - Mr Bhaktavaslam was very adamant and insisted to have a very small memorial .Eknathji was very brilliant .He approached the Guru of Mr Bhaktavaslam .He was Great Shankaracharya of Kanchi kamkoti .He advised CM to go ahead with huge memorial .

Climax of the story was the construction and budget . Sea site was very challenging . Cost involved was huge , touching above 500 crores ( 1.5 crores in 1967 ) .Eknathji initiated a national movement for fund raising .He approached every common man , small farmers , industrialists , traders , social organizations . Proud part of the story is whole India stood firmly with Eknathji and there was not a single moment of interruption in the construction .This huge work finally was completed in 1970 and dedicated to Nation !!

For today's generation , this amazing work of Shri Eknathji Ranade is the inspiring case study .
